This blog has been silent for quite some time, and that has a medical and a travel reason. However, now that I am back home again and healthier (yep, like so many I came down with the infamous Corona virus) I am going to get back to posting to this site, including the remaining summaries of my 2021 edition of my 365 projects, both of December and the whole year.

The 365 Project Mark VI - Month Ten
The fall color season hit us with a vengeance this year, bringing out the yellows, reds and browns with full force. I hadn’t really been out all that much shooting those colors for a few years, because I felt that I’d done it already and I was just trying to re-heat a souffle. This year though I guess I had been “away” from that sort of photography enough that it felt somewhat new and interesting again. Hence October of 2021 had lots of fall colors among my 365 images.

I’ve noticed a pattern with these monthly summary blogposts where I start many of them with how much of the year is now over, so I guess I should do the same with this one (consistency and all that ;-)). We've just managed to get through 3 quarters of the year and are now definitely on the home stretch. 2022 can’t come soon enough!

The year is two thirds done and the air has a certain crispness to it at night. No doubt that fall is approaching, but we’ll get to enjoy warm days for a little while longer (hopefully anyway!). The eighth month of the year brought some previous types of photography and locations back to me, topics and places I’ve not had much contact with for the duration of the pandemic, so that was a lot of fun!

It’s a new month again, so therefore I have a summary post for the previous month, the seventh one for the year. We are just done with the month of July and as often is the case in Sweden we’ve had a mixed bag of weather, from sweltering heatwaves to enormous downpours with lightning shooting across the skies.

Half a year has gone by since I snapped the first image in this project and now we’re in the home stretch! Just over 180 images have been uploaded to my Instagram account and here on my site from January 1 to June 30th and I am pretty content with the stuff I’ve shared so far.

One third of the year is done and it feels we are still in the same holding pattern we’ve been in since March of 2020, waiting for the light in the tunnel. Thankfully the weather is getting better, the days are getting longer, there’s more green and other colors out there and allergies are kicking in (that last bit isn’t positive, but at least it’s an indication that spring is here…this year I’ll take that as an almost good thing!). Also, vaccines are being administered to more and more people…which is the most important thing!

“So here I am once more…”
Those are the first words from a song by my long time favorites Marillion and they seem pretty apt (although the actual song is about something entirely different) to use for the first summary of the year’s 365 project. I didn’t do any summaries last year, unlike previous 365 years and I found that missed doing them. They provided a nice end to one part of the project and a chance to think about the progress so far.

So this marks the end of my 365 project for 2019 and a delayed wrap-up post of the month of December. 31 images uploaded in the last month of the year and 365 images uploaded throughout the whole year. I must say I am pretty pleased that I was able to keep it going…although it was not as difficult as it was in 2014, 2016 or 2018 (when I didn’t even upload the taken pictures for more than half a year). Still…365 images, that’s A LOT! It’d be way too many to put into an exhibition and probably too many to put into a photo book, unless you print them fairly small (which is how I will do my Blurb book of the project).
I’m happy with how the project turned out, and some of the pictures are actually good enough that I’d consider printing them large, especially some of the images I’ve taken with my Kiev 60 medium format camera throughout the year. It feels like I’m starting to understand how to use that camera to glean that extra bit of “pop” that medium format can give, when it’s done right.

Ninth mone done and I am fast approaching the 300th picture of the year. Wow! September was an interesting month in this project where I did a few things I’ve not really done before, including paying a visit to a local music and culture festival (more about that later in the blogpost).
Also, this post is a bit on the late side (I usually try to post my wrap-up post of the previous month as soon as possible once the month is over, but this time around I took a blogging break because…well…sometimes it is good to do that - pure and simple.
