It has been a loooooong time since I did anything with this blog of mine, and I think I will chalk that up to the whole 2020 experience. But since today is the last day of this “annus horribilis” (to quote the Queen) I figured an update is not a bad idea.
Read MoreOne of the sad facts of this summer is that long distance traveling is pretty much out of the question. I certainly wouldn’t have minded going overseas this summer, but nope…not gonna happen for me…nor for pretty much everyone else in Sweden. The fact that we’re barred from going to most other countries made me worry that the Ale Stenar, a very famous Iron Age megalith monument in the shape of a stone ship, on the southernmost coast of Sweden would be very crowded.
Read MoreThere are a few reasonably “safe” spaces for people to hang out at now that we’re supposed to stay away from each other for the sake of everyone’s health - nature being one of them. Of course that only works if not “everyone” picks the same spot in nature to visit at the same time…which is what it felt like a few weekends ago when I went to the Söderåsen National Park in central Skåne, a very scenic area.
Read MoreIt’s a confusing time period in the world at the moment, where we’re not supposed to do anything outside the house (preferably), and definitely not interact with other people if we can avoid it. Yet, the sun did decide to return to us here in the northern hemisphere after all and the vibrant green of the returning leaves beckons us to go out there, cameras in hand.
Read MoreTwo weeks since my last blog entry, and I will put that down to a certain lack of enthusiasm that probably comes from the social distancing that I’ve had to implement, due to people near me being in the risk categories. So, there’s been no street photography for me for quite a long time now and I must say I miss it! But I’d miss my loved ones more and I would definitely NOT want to catch something from someone out in the city and pass it to them! So, no street photography for me for awhile further…I’ll stick with nature shots and places where it’s possible to stay a good way away from other people.
Read MoreThis is my second blogpost with images in a unique format from the Hasselblad X Pan II camera I’ve got on loan for a month. I haven’t shot quite as much as I thought I would, since the whole world pretty much descended into Corona territory…but I did squeeze in a few rounds with it before we were all told to stay far away from each other, and I have a few rolls still yet to both shoot and develop, so my guess is that there will be a few more posts with images in this ultrawide format in the future!
Read MoreWhen you start going down the rabbit hole of analog photography you can develop what is known as G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), where you want to buy ALL the cameras of ALL the different types out there because they’re just so cheap! At least they used to be. Nowadays analog cameras are going up in price at a somewhat alarming rate (for those who want to buy new stuff all the time). Personally I am quite happy with the cameras I have at the moment so I don’t feel the need to hunt for any new gear…except perhaps a lens or two for my medium format camera. But that is for a later date.
Read MoreLast weekend I had the privilege of going to the town of Ängelholm (just over an hour’s drive from where I live) to see the exhibition of some photographers I knew. They all showed different styles of photos and I liked a lot of what I saw and it was inspiration to get a show of my own put together at some point! After the show my constant photo companion (Dad) and I went down to the Rönne river that flows through the town for a bit of a stroll.
Read MoreIt is March 4 as I write these words and at long last it feels like this gray winter is on its last leg (which of course means that since I wrote that we’ll have at least one snow fall before it’s all over…jinx!) and I am absolutely glad that daylight is back, both in the morning as well as later and later in the afternoon! A few more weeks and we’re back to Daylight Savings Time which makes for even longer afternoons. Yay!
