Two weeks since my last blog entry, and I will put that down to a certain lack of enthusiasm that probably comes from the social distancing that I’ve had to implement, due to people near me being in the risk categories. So, there’s been no street photography for me for quite a long time now and I must say I miss it! But I’d miss my loved ones more and I would definitely NOT want to catch something from someone out in the city and pass it to them! So, no street photography for me for awhile further…I’ll stick with nature shots and places where it’s possible to stay a good way away from other people.
Anywho…these images are from a stroll I did in one of my “usual spots”, the Skrylle woods outside Lund, Sweden a few weekends ago. It’s a recreational area so there’s usually a lot of joggers on the paths, but this day it was blessedly empty, but for a few people, so it was easy to stay far enough apart.
I’ve once again illustrated this blog post with images taken with the loaner Hasselblad X Pan II, which I’m delighted with and one I am going to miss when I return it! It is a very special, and often quirky camera, but when you nail the picture…it’s just amazing! It’s just not five figures (in Swedish currency) amazing enough for me to get my own though!
I have developed six rolls of the expired HP5+ I got cheap from a friend at my photo club to experiment with the X Pan and have shot another three (with one left to load into the camera) so it’ll be interesting to see what is captured on the last four rolls of that. I’m guessing that there will be lots of nature shots…just from the way things are right now in the world…
…but when you see a scene like the last one in this blog post and manage to capture it this way, I am fine with doing something other than I usually do with a camera!
I am thinking that, depending on how long I am allowed to keep the camera around and how long we need to maintain the social distancing (man I am starting to despise this phrase) I might actually get to do some ultra-wide street photography with the camera, since that is what I originally had planned to do. One can hope for that…right?
