Last weekend I had the privilege of going to the town of Ängelholm (just over an hour’s drive from where I live) to see the exhibition of some photographers I know. They all showed different styles of photos and I liked a lot of what I saw and it was inspiration to get a show of my own put together at some point! After the show my constant photo companion (Dad) and I went down to the Rönne river that flows through the town for a bit of a stroll.
There is something special about flowing water in a city (or an open coast line to the ocean) that makes it an interesting place to me. In this case I found it interesting that the river had an almost mirror like appearance in places, even though the flow of water was quite strong and fast. It’s rained like crazy all through winter here and you could tell that the surface of the river was much, much higher than usual. I don’t think the people living in the apartments next to the river need to worry though, the bottom floor ones were at least three meters above the waterline!
I have lived in this province for my entire life (except for an exchange year in the U.S.) but I couldn’t remember ever coming to Ängelholm…not even as a kid. Then dad told me that I had indeed been there, as a 10 year old when the family did a multi day bike ride around the province. I figured since that was way too close to 40 years ago I was allowed to have that slip from my memory…
I will definitely be back to shoot some more photos there though, perhaps even this summer. It felt like a nice outing that I can do by train (once this infernal COVID-19 thing is over!).
