It’s been quite some times since my last uploaded post to this blog, mostly since I’ve been “buried” behind a screen with an ongoing book project and some other things lately. My photographic output has been quite low, and not really worth making a full blog post about. Now though I do have a bunch of pictures that together are worth uploading.
It was a lovely Sunday and the sun was shining from a nearly flawless blue sky with warm enough weather to leave the house with no jacket on. I figured I could do with a bit of a photographic as well as physical exercise so on the way to the Svaneholm mansion I grabbed my constant photo buddy (a.k.a. Dad) and off we went.
When we approached the parking lot we saw several volunteers in hi-viz yellow vests directing traffic, but neither one of us had a clue as to why they were there, or why the parking lot was so full already that morning. It turned out that we’d decided to go to the Svaneholm Mansion and Park on the same day that they were going to inaugurate a nature reserve around the mansion and nearby lake. So there were several booths set up, a youth marching band was to play and several local big wigs were going to give speeches to commemorate the occasion. We weren’t all that interested though, instead we did the slow walk around the lake next to the mansion to enjoy the weather and the scenery around us. The paths were pretty busy with other tourists/walkers, but it was peaceful enough that we could enjoy it a lot, both the walking as well as the photography.
Even though we’re in the middle of September there’s still plenty of flowers in bloom.
In a little grove next to the mansion there’s a small cemetery where the last two generations of noble owners of the property are buried. It was a very beautiful and peaceful spot underneath the canopies of the old trees.
Even on our little walk there were signs of the event at the mansion going on. This carriage took people on rides back and forth along the gravel roads near the mansion.
Some of the local wildlife also enjoying the warm weather and clear skies.
This young boy was so well-behaved when he wanted to say hi to the ducks. He walked ever so slowly towards them, so as not to spook them. Eventually though of course he got too just a little bit too close and the ducks retreated to the water, which made him sad.
There were very few leaves that had started to turn color, even though I was there in the middle of September.
That tree stump looked almost like something out of a horror movie with several parts that looked a bit like contorted faces.
I definitely enjoyed the light out on the park that day! Everything was still so vividly green and alive.
