These past two years of “plague” I haven’t been very good at keeping up my street photography skills…for the simple and to me rather obvious reason that it is unwise to be among too many people, that it’s better to maintain a good distance to potential sources of infection.
However, now that the numbers are reasonably low (yes, I know they’re climbing a little bit again) I decided that I needed a stroll through my city of Malmö, Sweden. The weather was good and I had reasons to be in the city anyway later that day so I thought why not?
I decided to go with a 35 mm f2.0 fixed lens on my Fujifilm XT-3, rather than a zoom lens. I bought that lens a little while back to use for my street photography (among other things), but I feel I haven’t yet gotten quite as close to people as I want to be with my street photography.
However, given the current conditions I am fine with maintaining a bit of a distance. Besides, I have no desire to be a Bruce Gilden kind of photographer, right up in people’s faces. This close is enough…for now!
The streets of Malmö were pretty crowded with people out and about enjoying the warm late March weather. The Swedes are absolutely sun worshippers, especially in early spring when at long last it feels like you can leave the house without gloves and not freeze your finger tips in the process! It was fun to see a few of man’s best friends out as well, enjoying the good weather.
