It's been quite awhile since I did a blog post...and no, there's nothing major going on...I just didn't feel the urge to post anything on the blog...until today that is.
There is a big new gallery on the site with carnival pictures I took in early September of this year, so last year's images from a carnival will now be seen on my Flickr account instead. After going through and editing that behemoth of photos I've not really felt the urge to post anything new...other than updating my Instagram 365 galleries as the year progresses.
As I type this I I've just posted the picture for day 268 and I am still enjoying myself. I don't see any reason to stop now; even though the progressively shorter days will give me less daylight each day to take pictures. Given that the LG G4 is pretty good at low light photography I expect there will be more shots of that kind as we move towards December and the end of the project. I'm fine with this...and hope those who follow my little self-assigned project are too! All two of you out there that is.
The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is fast approaching (it's on next weekend) and I look forward to participating for the fourth (or possibly fifth) time. It's always fun to be around other fellow photo nerds...and from the looks of things it'll be an almost full walk (i.e. almost 50 people). That might be a bit too many to take many good pictures, but there'll be lots of socializing! Watch out for photos of other photographers taking photos if nothing else.
Before that on the same day I am taking the first class on Analog Photography that my photo club is putting on. I've dug up my dad's old Chinon SLR from the beginning of the 80s, so I am all set! I think it'll be fun...given that my photo club has a brand-spanking new darkroom I have been eager to have a go at this type of photography too, and this feels like a good start of that...however much of it I end up doing. I could be too entrenched in digital photography to catch the analog bug...I don't know yet. Either way I think the hipster factor of yours truly will go up immensely when I show up at the Photowalk carrying an analog camera! ;-)
A fun update to talk about is that I've now gotten confirmation that I will have an exhibition at this year's edition of the local Culture Fest (formerly the Culture Night) on October 21. The cool part is that not only do I have almost twice the wall space I had last year...I also have good ideas on what to show already. In previous years of taking part of this event a few times it's been down to the wire what to pick and show.
Since I've got three projects going at the moment – my Instagram 365 project, my "Graffiti Square" project and my ”Old World” project it makes sense to pick images from two of those, and since the 365 project is ongoing I chose the other two. It'll be fun to see what the locals think of them...especially since they're so utterly different in style and themes. Perhaps they think it's two different photographers' works.
