The 365 Daily Picture Project

In 2014 I took on a daily photo challenge with my cell phone as the capturing, editing AND uploading device to Instagram, because “the best camera is the one you’ve got with you”, and I always have my phone with me (much to the chagrin of my loved ones at times). Unfortunately I ran out of steam in July of that year and didn’t finish it.

2016 was my second attempt and that time I did reach 366 images, one for every day of that year (including February 29th). All these pictures are now in a gallery on Flickr if you want to peruse them.

I didn’t do another daily pic challenge in 2017; it would only feel like a repeat, so my IG posts that year were much more infrequent. It wasn’t until I switched to a new phone in November 2017 that I thought “hey…this camera isn’t bad, perhaps I should do another daily challenge…”

I renamed the project “The 365 Project” because of a break from social media that lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. It just didn’t feel right to call it an Instagram 365 project after that. The galleries on this site do have ALL the pictures for 2018, including the ones taken during my social media hiatus.

This is NOT the tool I use for my daily picture! :-D It’s a pretty cool 1958 camera though that I’ve used for several of the square format pics in the galleries.

It also happens to be a camera that my dad got as a birthday gift from my grandfather on his 14th birthday, so for that reason alone it is a camera I treasure!
