This week's images are all from the Torup Castle park, about 11 km (or 7 miles for the metrically challenged) from my home. It was a beautiful summer day with lots of sunshine, so of course I've only picked the moodiest of black and white shots taken while the sun was obscured by clouds. Makes sense doesn't it?
Actually It's got more to do with me experimenting with black and white shots again after being away from it for awhile. About two years ago I was all into black and white, printing A LOT of my images in monochrome tones, but after some time I grew tired of that and shot in color for awhile. Today though I'm getting back into monochrome...especially after Google made the Nik Collection free of charge. The SilverEfex and AnalogEfex plugins have gotten a lot of use in the last few weeks and I am definitely enjoying turning my shots into (often) rather moody black and white pictures. We'll have to see how long this period lasts, but for now I am enjoying the making of the pictures!
I've got a notion to make the recent black and white works into a full collection/album/theme for an upcoming one day exhibition in August. That should be a fun goal to strive for, to have a coherent body of work that is suitable for that event. I think (judging from previous years I've done it) I'll need around 15 - 20 images to cover the space alloted for participants, so I still have quite a few "slots" to fill. Good thing summer's here so there's lots of light to work with during our long days of daylight!
